An architecturally stunning home of 6k square feet on an expansive lot in Encino, this project was designed for a young film/TV industry couple and their son. The idea was boho chic meets Mumford and Sons with the agility to entertain often, and we love how it turned out! With many original details from the 80’s that we needed to lose and a desire to achieve the look and feel of a studied casualness, this remodel went into overdrive with the grand staircase that connects 3 floors. We completely remade the stairs and railing, a monumental design task in and of itself and topped it off with industrial chandeliers that create a bespoke look and sets the stage as you enter the house. The master bed and bathroom needed total gutting and are now open, bright and airy. The key design elements all being joined by black and white and pops of color. The master fireplace now boasts a 3-d carrara marble on the bottom half juxtaposed with a black and white flower motif wallpaper on the top half. A third wallpaper behind the headboard has an impactful black and white geometric design. In the kitchen we choose to leave the massive copper hood and remade the cabinets in a blue that makes our hearts sing! Overall a project to remember.
